"The book is by P. Lal a retired IPS officer of Punjab police. The name of the book 'SAMM' is an acronym for ' Stories, Anecdotes and Motivational Messages '. They are of varied nature, many of them giving a perspective to our ancient culture and certain ignored aspects of our history. Though the facts in some of them may be subject to debate, they have been included leaving it to readers to examine them if they so desire. Some of them are worth mention viz:अपन और एत ( SN 11), गढल र " क "( SN 12), Harvest of good character( SN 81), Subhrak, the horse which killed Qutbuddin Aibak (SN 35), Swiss Time Bank( SN 3), The fiesty woman-ruler: Abbakka Chowta of Ullal (SN 4), त न ( SN 10), "Glory to the Guru" ( SN 26), ह द ( SN 5), तषक- र ए ण ए न, ए ( SN 29), दह न गठ ( SN 33), अ पर ध, धम तव च ( SN 36), ध रष र ( SN 39), A hill called Melrose ( SN 151), रध आर, 'ओम जय जगश ह' रच ( SN 2), लत-न (POK) ( SN 43) and अम-म य ( SN 1). Out of them, 'अम-म य ' is worth a special mention- the poem composed by Venkatadhwari consists of 30 shlokas which when read forward depict the story of Shri Ram, and when read backward, they depict the story of Shri Krishna. The book contains 180 pieces- 140 in English and 40 in Hindi. The book would be useful for the public in general and young generation in particular, who, for the resurgence of Indian nationalism, ought to know what we were and what was our culture and what is the value of virtues in life. The Foreword has been written by Dr KN Pathak, Former Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh."
